Status Update

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. A lot has happened, but I haven’t been motivated to talk about it too much. I’m going to try, however.

Today marks 1 month that I’ve been unemployed. My job ended at the end of July, after 11 years and nearly two months of dedicating myself. I’m feeling a bit adrift, and that’s definitely been keeping me a little down. I’ve got a couple of good leads, and am in the middle of interviews for them, so fingers crossed.

I’ve also legally changed my name, and now am Willow on paper, as well as in my heart. If not for the employment woes, I’d have been shouting this news from the rooftops, rather than just mentioning it in passing to friends and loved ones. Ah well.

Due to the political climate, my gender affirming health care provider has announced that it’s closing, and that’s yet another blow, but I’m hopeful that I can migrate my care to someplace, once my insurance gets lined out again.

I lost a toe a few months ago. It started with a small injury on my foot that got infected. While healing up from the surgery that ensued from that, I developed a blood blister on one of my smaller toes on the same foot. It erupted and did not heal well, leading to the toe needing to be taken. I am now mostly healed from that incident. However, I have adopted the title “Mistress Willow of the Nine Toes”.

Despite everything, I remain happy and healthy. I have a supportive partner, supportive kids and family, and I feel loved. I hope to get back to engaging in my creativity, and with luck, will post another status update sometime sooner than next year.
